On Saturday, September1, St. Hedwig’s located at MN14949 Gorman Avenue, will be having an Open House event from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This special occasion will be the last chance for patrons to buy pontoon raffle tickets, which helps pay for the steeple roof and repairs. The drawing will take place at 9:00 p.m. that evening at Munson Bridge Winery.

At the Open House, patrons will be ale to enjoy the venerable old fixtures and photos on display—photos from the very beginnings of St. Hedwig’s Church and fixtures that ae over 100 years old. Families who attended St. Hedwig’s Church before its closing in 1970, are encouraged to attend prepared to share stories of the time enjoyed at St. Hedwig’s. “Bring the funny stories and bring the heart-warming and even the sad stories. We want to hear them all,” said Scott Marrier of the Hands Foundation.

During the Open House, the Hands Foundation will be collecting quilts, blankets, sleeping bags, and backpacks for homeless veterans. The Foundation will also accept flannel and denim to make into quilts.

“If you haven’t been able to attend an Open House this summer, we encourage you to come and have a look at the progress that has been done this year.” Merrier added.
