Taking a Tour of Thorp’s History (Tour -7 September 2012)

The Thorp Historical Society was in for a busy exciting day on Friday, September 7, serving as the host of the West Central Wisconsin Regional Historical Society Conference.

The day began as the 35 members from area Historical Societies thing a 100-mile radius met at Cindy’s Hall for the Regional meeting, where they welcomed guest speaker, Janet Seymour, Field Representative out of Eau Claire. The group participated in a round-table discussion regarding the area museums-sharing news, updates, concerns, and repots of progress before sharing a meal together.
Thorp’s Historical Society opened the doors to the local museum, allowing the visitors to take a tour of Thorp’s history, including the Heritage Telephone Museum. Thorp’s membership also offered maps of the city and surrounding area, full of designated landmarks that they recommended visitors take part in, including Holland’s Family Cheese, St. Hedwig’s Church and Munson Bridge Winery.

Pictured, guests from Historical Societies around the west central Wisconsin region take a tour of the Thorp Historical Society museum, looking in the case of heritage-inspired miniatures.
