Presents Quilting at Stanley Museum (Donna Haas, Artisan - 2015)

The Stanley Area Historical Society is hosting their second presentation of the season on Saturday, July 12, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Donna Haas, the local proprietor of Sew and Sew Quilts and Fabrics, and fresh from hosting many visitors on the 2014 Wi8sconsin state Shop Hop, will be the museum’s next featured artisan. Donna, whose shop is located a few miles south of Stanley on County Hwy. MM, is a 20-year veteran of her passion-quilting. Besides being a professional quilter, she makes and markets quilt patterns under the name “Sew Easy Triangles.” She also is a regular contributor of quilt designs for “The Quilter Magazine,” which is distributed around the world. As a result, kits she sells have been sent as far away as Australia.

Besides having some of her work on display, Donna will discuss quilting as a hobby, as a wonderful pastime, and how to get started creating perhaps a family heirloom. Donna has created a lot of friendships through quilting and will be sharing some wonderful stories with her audience. One of her favorites is of a man from Georgia she met 15 plus years ago, who is now 99 years old. The man has made over 200 quilts without the benefit of any of the fancy machines that assist today’s quilt makers.

Donna’s shop is well stocked with many fabrics, notions, and books on quilting. To see some of her designs you can visit www.seweasytriangles.com.  Her enthusiasm for her hobby makes it a joy to listen to her when she talks about quilting. Come meet and hear a true artisan in air conditioned comfort. There is no charge, and refreshments will be served.
