Schmitt, Kevin John (12 December 1947 – 8 July 2020)
Kevin Schmitt age 52 of Chili, died unexpectedly Wednesday July 8, 2020 at
Marshfield Medical Center
Kevin was born December 12, 1967 in Chippewa Falls, to Sylvester and Jeanette
(Meyer) Schmitt. He attended Stanley-Boyd High School. After leaving Stanley,
Kevin settled into his forever residence in Chili.
Kevin was a skilled craftsman in multiple trades. He took pride in his work,
some would say he was meticulous in everything he did. Whether for himself or
for others. Kevin will always be remembered for the man who would drop
everything to help a neighbor in need. Kevin took pride in mentoring the younger
generation of his many skills: from small engine repair, to vehicle
repair/maintenance to carpentry. He especially prided himself in mentoring his
grandchildren.
In his younger years Kevin was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and
camping. You could find Kevin enjoying the outdoors year-round, even if he
complained of the weather at times. Kevin enjoyed cheering on the Packers either
at the game or watching it with friends and family.
Kevin is survived by his longtime companion Brenda Van Ert. His mother Jeanette
Geist of Boyd. Brothers Dave of Granton, Dan (Pam) Chippewa Falls, Steve (Tammy)
Cadott, Jamie (Tina) Chippewa Falls. Daughter Melissa (Sam) Wampole of Thorp.
Grandchildren Quintin, Preston, Khloe and Liam of Thorp. And a future
great-granddaughter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. And his
furry little buddy Trigger (kitty-kitty). Extended family Brad, Ricky, Tracy,
Amy and their families. Brenda’s parents Duane and Judy Van Ert.
He was preceded in death by his father Sylvester, step-father Tony Geist.
Sister-in-Law AnnMarie Schmitt and nephew Jeremy Schmitt. Also preceded by
Grandparents Andrew and Katie Schmitt and Victor and Irma Meyer, Grandma Ellen
Taylor. Aunts and Uncles. And special Aunt Peggy.
