Catching Up With Thorp Alumni (39th Reunion – 6 July 2013)

On Saturday, July 6, the Thorp Alumni Association held its 39th Annual Reunion dinner and program at the Quonset Hall. Over 80 graduates from 1932 through 1984 gathered together for a social hour before finding their seat for the program. After the welcome by Paula Teclaw Paskert, Gerald “Jug” Glasshof presented the “In Memoriam,” followed by the introduction of the 2013 Miss Thorp Court and 2013 scholarship recipients, presented by HazelBelle Lange.

The Alumni Association also worked with area landmarks, giving visiting alumni the chance to tour and check out area attractions before the night’s events. Along with opening the doors to the Thorp Historical Society and Telephone Museum, the historic St. Hedwig’s Church held a special open house event. Former students from decades worth of graduating classes, from a variety of places and walks of life, took the time to stop by St. Hedwig’s to see the progress the renovation projects have made through the last few years. Scott Merrier, along with other members of The Hands Foundation, were on site, giving tours and explaining all that had been done to the historical marker so far, including original pews, recently uncovered stained-glass sacristy windows and additional clock-face.
