Merrill, Victor D. (July 29, 1893 to May 24, 1989)

No services will be held for Victor Deo Merrill, 95, of Paradise, California. He died at Paradise Convalescent Hospital Wednesday, May 24, 1989. Mr. Merrill was born July 29, 1893 in Neillsville, Wisconsin to John and Mamie Frances Merrill.

In the early 1900’s he moved to Fort Benton where he owned and operated the Benton Drug and Pharmacy store for many years. Mr. Merrill served in the Army 1918 to 1919. He and Louise Morrow were married in 1953.

He was the oldest member of Benton Lodge No. 49, I.O.O.F, and the Fort Benton American Legion. He moved to Paradise in 1962.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Cornelius of Magalia, California; two sisters, Marie Jensen of Medicine Lake, Montana, and Dorothy Pruitt of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Merrill preceded him in death.

Burial of cremains will be in Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico, California. Brusie Funeral Home in Chico was in charge of arrangements.
