Johnson, Lucy (21 October 1896 - 4 January 1982)

CURTISS -- Services for Mrs. Lucy Johnson, 85, Curtiss, will be Friday at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Mrs. Johnson died Tuesday at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford.

The Rev. Alan C. Minshall, pastor of st. Paul's American Lutheran Church in Curtiss, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, Curtiss, with grandsons serving as pallbearers.Friends may call at the funeral home where the Abbotsford VFW Auxiliary will conduct services Thursday.

The former Lucy Green was born October 21, 1896, at Curtiss to Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Sarah) Green. She attended the Curtiss and Ashland schools and also the Wausau Business College. Her marriage to Jacob Johnson took place August 5, 1922 at Curtiss. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1972.

She and her husband operated Jake's Tavern in Curtiss from 1933 to 1976. She also worked for the postal service in Curtiss for many years, retiring in 1961.

Her husband died February 10, 1980.

Survivors include a son, Lyle Johnson, Curtiss; four daughters, Mrs. Carol Bochnia, Madison, Florida, Mrs. Earl (Iris) Schiszik, Curtiss, Mrs. Glenn (Ramona) Schaus, Little Chute, and Mrs, Myron (Sharon) Brecke, Stetsonville; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Edith) Neitzl, Abbotsford; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers.

She was a member of the Curtiss Community Club, Abbotsford VFW Auxiliary and Cutriss Card Club.
