Micke, William Sr., (27 April 1904 - 7 January 1982)

THORP -- William Micke Sr., 77, of 702 N. Clark St., Thorp, died today at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where he had been admitted on Saturday

Services will be Saturday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Thorp Funeral Home, where a Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held.

Mr. Micke was born in the town of Worden, Route 3, Stanley, and married the former Florence Plecity June 20, 1932 in Thorp. She survives. Mr. Micke, who was engaged in farming all his life, lived at Route 3, Stanley until November 1981, when he came to Thorp.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as chairman of the town of Worden for 25 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William Jr. and Jerry, both of Route 3, Stanley; two daughters, Mrs. Joann Stroinski, Thorp, and Mrs. Carol McDermott, Las Vegas, Nevada; seven sisters, Mrs. Anna Benzschawel, Mrs. Veronica Benzschawel, Mrs.Margaret Vanderhyden and Mrs. Delores Schmidt, all of Thorp, Mrs. Lenore Haynes, Tampa, Florida, Mrs. Marian Culbert, Eau Claire, and Mrs. Cecelia Velcheck, Stevens Point; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Armin, in 1970.
