According to the verbal historians of the area, the Macks were the "well" men of
their day there are a few wells left around the country side which have been
stoned up without mortar and are still in excellent condition.
The stones of which some are monstrous were placed so that they did not fall in
the well. These wells had been dug by hand with the diggings palled up in a
bucket and the stones let down the same way.
Later Joseph and Adam Schuld were well drillers (1896) and Simon Schuld and
Frank Klimmer were also in the same business together. There seems to be no
record of the village having a dug a well although many private wells were here.
