Thorne, Jeanette Elsie (29 June 1927 – 39 March 2020)

Jeanette Elsie Thorne passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Aspirus Rehabilitation Center in Medford at the age of 92.

She was born in Abbotsford, on June 29, 1927 the daughter of Alwin and Florence (Volkmar) Thede.

She was united in marriage to Floyd G. Thorne on June 12, 1948 in Colby. He preceded her in death December 29, 1974. Jeanette graduated from Brady’s School in 8th grade and went on to work at Soo Café in Owen where she met her future husband. Farming, logging, and managing “Thorne’s Garage” filled her days. After Floyd’s passing, she worked at Owen Manufacturing until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter: Phyllis (Dennis) Wilson, daughter-in-law: Norene Thorne, grandchildren: Dusty (Loretta) Thorne, Teri (Paul) Ruggles, Cheri Wilson, and Dallas Thorne. She is also remembered by four great-granddaughters: Cheyenne, Sierra, Reegan, and Sydnee. She is further survived by two brothers, Nyle (Dolores) Thede, WA, Albert (Ruth) Thede, IL and one sister, Nancy Rolling, CA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Carl D. Thorne in 2018, and two brothers, William and Marvin Thede.

Mornings at her home featured polka music streaming from her den. She enjoyed showing a move or two back in the day. “Dinner’s Ready” could be heard daily from out her front door for the lucky few who got to enjoy her cooking and conversation. No such thing as a stranger at this Thorne’s residence. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Jeanette also enjoyed gardening, baking, making maple syrup, and mowing the lawn. Nothing could keep her off her mower.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
