Hefty, John (13 March 1899 - 11 January 1983)

GRANTON -- John Hefty, 83, of Neillsville Memorial Home, Neillsville, died Tuesday morning at the home.

Services will be Thursday at the Gilbertson Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Sanford of United Methodist Church, Loyal, will officiate. Soloist will be in Windfall Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Floyd, David and William Hohenstein and John, Willie and Gerald Cattanach.

He was born March 13, 1899 at the New Glarus to Mr. and Mrs. John (Theresa Schlumph) Hefty Sr. in 1906 he moved with his parents to the Town of York, where they farmed. He received his education in the Town of Grant.

After retiring from farming he worked for the Neillsville Cemetery and the Green Thumb program. He lived his entire life in the Town of York until entering Neillsville Memorial Home.

Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Marie) Hicks of Nekoosa. He was predeceased by his parents.
