Murphy, Frank W. (12 June 1895 - 15 January 1983)

NEILLSVILLE __ Frank W. Murphy, 87, of the Neillsville Memorial Home, died Saturday at the home.

Services will be Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Norbert Miller, Greenwood, will officiate and burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery. Greenwood American Legion Post will conduct military rites at graveside. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

He was born June 12, 1895, in the Town of Weston, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mose (Mary Redmon) Murphy. He received his education at Mound School.

He was employed at Wuethrich Creamery Co. for several years and then served with the U.S. Army in World War I. After his discharge, he returned to the Town of Weston, where he farmed until 1960. He retired from farming until 1960. He retired from farming and moved to Christie and then to Neillsville.

He was a member of Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post 238, Greenwood.

He and Lucille A. MacKnick were married November 3, 1920, at Greenwood; she died March 20, 1975.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Gertrude) Johnson of Greenwood, Mrs. John (Frances) Ormond Jr. of Neillsville and Mrs. James (Marjorie) Kurasz of Duboise, Wyoming; three sons, Arthur of Neillsville, Harold of Black River Falls and Bernard of Greenwood; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Fred, and one sister, Hazel.
