Wessell, Alfred (26 October 1909 – 1 December 1976)

Adolph Wessel, 67, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, died unexpectedly about 5:15 p.m. December 1. He was taken from his home by the Greenwood ambulance to the Greenwood Clinic, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mr. Wessel was born October 26, 1909, in the Town of Mead. He was married June 17, 1943, to the former Lorinda Horn at Greenwood. He received his education in rural Greenwood schools and before his marriage worked in Dixon, Il.

After their marriage, the Wessel’s farmed in the Town of Warner, 2 1/2 miles north of Greenwood. They retired from farming in 1974 but continued to live on the farm.

He was a member of Zion United Church, Zion adult fellowship and was on the church board of directors for several years and a member of the Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Everett of Milwaukee and Emmett of Sheboygan; a brother, Albert of Greenwood; and a sister, Mrs. Lydia Tieman of Greenwood.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Zion United Church. The Rev. David Logue, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Francis Kohlnhofer, Bernard Maass, Donald Ewold, Robert Schneider, Charles Hoeper and Arthur Hendrickson.

Gary Schultz sang “Rock of Ages” and “How Great Thou Art,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.
