Anderson, Harvey E. (22 May 1927 – 5 February 2021) With Flag

Harvey E. Anderson, age 93, of Withee, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center.

Harvey was born in Withee on May 22, 1927 to the late Edward and Dorothy Anderson. Harvey attended Hixon Heights School until the eighth grade. He farmed and logged on the home place until he was in his thirty’s. Harvey married Velda Arndt on May 6, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Withee. He worked at the Longwood Cheese Factory for eight years, Wills Gas for five years and sixteen years for Teledyne Post retiring in 1989. Harvey lived in the Town of Hixon on the home place all his life. He served in the United States Army from January 1946 to September 1947. Harvey was a Cub Scout leader for 8 years. He taught Sunday school and Bible Class for many years. He also served on the church board and was Chairman on the Hixon Town Board and received the outstanding citizen award for the Town of Hixon in 1987. He was a lifelong active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Harvey started the North Star Driving Club and Anderson Shetland Ranch. He enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers.

Harvey is survived by his wife: Velda of Withee, daughter: Janice (Allen) Arndt of Withee; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his sons: Ronald and Billy Sr., grandsons: John Arndt and Joseph Anderson and eleven siblings: Howard, Agnes, Marcella, Beatrice, Lillian, Roger, Villa, Leland, Roy, Byron and Vivian.

A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Reverend Daniel Vang will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services. Family and friends can watch the service live through Facebook by typing in Maurina Schilling Funeral Homes. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee with full military rites conducted by the Owen American Legion Post #123, Lublin Legion Post #547 and the O-W Vets Club.
