COLBY -- Writing efforts of four Colby High School students will be judged in statewide competition, it was announced today.

The students won first place honors in the regional competition of the Wisconsin Associated Press High School Journalism Contest.

First place winners were: Stephanie Weix, features; Sue Rau, editorial; Tom Pietrowski, sports; and Ann Brill, news.

Each will receive a certificate. State award winners will be announced when Associated Press editors meet in La Crosse May 13-14.

Brill also won a second place award in the feature category and Pietrowski placed second for a news story, other Colby students who placed in the contest were: Rick Clifford, third in features, and Cathy Nosbisch, second in sports writing.
