Melin, Owen E. (19 September 1905 - 21 April 1983)

WITHEE -- Owen E. Melin, 77, of 701 E. Wood St., Withee, died unexpectedly Thursday while assisting a son with farm chores in the Town of Hixon. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack according to Bob Lulloff, Clark County coroner.

Services will be Monday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. Peter Thomsen will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Visitation will be at Maurina Funeral Home, Owen.

He was born September 19, 1905 in Moloine, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Fanny Price) Melin. He was a graduate of Withee High School and took the Farm Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He and Helen Turvey were married May 26, 1937 in Medford. He farmed in the Town of Hixon, and served as a clerk for the Hixon Heights Elementary School for 24 years.

He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church and its church choir. He also served on the church council.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Kenneth of Waukesha and Edward of Withee; and two grandsons. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister.

Memorials may be given to the Nazareth Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
