Chaltry, Thomas (Honors - 1984)

Thomas Chaltry, Spencer, was recently notified that he had received special honors for his photographic work. Thomas is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Chaltry, Neillsville.

The honors came from the International World of Wedding Photography Awards program. Chaltry took honorable mention awards for special effects.

Hoesly, Jane (FHA Pres.- 1984)

Jane Hoesly, a junior at Granton, was elected state president of the Future Homemakers of America this past week in La Crosse. Over 1,200 FHA members attended. A rally was held for Jane upon her return, and she was presented a check to help defray expenses she will incur this year.

Pettit, Wade (Scholarship Award - 1984)

Wade Pettit has been chosen to receive the Francis Melvin scholarship award. Wade is valedictorian of his class and active in student organizations. This past summer he worked at the National Voyageurs Park in northern Minnesota as a volunteer. He is president of his class and vice president of the Future Farmers. He plans on entering UW-Stevens Point.

Chili – Mayer, Mary Jo (Jaycettes Pres - 1984)

Mary Jo Mayer was elected on April 19 as president of the Chili Area Jaycettes. Other officers chosen at the East Fremont School gym meeting were Joan Martin, vice president; Punky Montgomery, state director; Gail Lindgren, secretary; Wendy Martin, treasurer and Judy Kampin, sunshine and chaplain.

Winners were also announced for the club’s Easter coloring contest. Taking the awards from Nasonville were Jenny Virnig, Ryan Heeg, Sara Wolf, Karla Podratz, Jeff Shefchik, Lisa Jensen, Angie Rekis, Scott Post and Melody Heeg.

Taking the winning spots from East Fremont were Angela Janssen, Shannon Weber, Sara Stickert, Stacie Weber, Amy Kremm and Kari Martin, according to Jaycette reporter, Brenda Schmidt.

Bohnsack, Karen M. (14 April 1984)

Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshfield was the April 14 site of the wedding for Karen M. Bohnsack and Dennis A. Radue, Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bohnsack, Rt. 3 Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Radue, Marshfield.

The Rev. Donald Buch officiated with Paul Voight and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kaletka offering music.

Serving as matron of honor was Joan Buchholz of Neillsville. She was joined by Renae Bredemann of Marshfield and Diane Reynolds of Yale, Iowa.

Serving as bestman was Robert Gauger of Berrien Springs, Michigan. He was joined by Jay Weller of Wisconsin Rapids and Jeff Kolpanen of Marshfield. Ushering were Roger Buchholz of Neillsville and Wayne Radue of Spencer. Flowergirl was Candace Buchholz and ringbearer was Shawn Radue.

The bride chose a gown of organza with embroidered motifs and Venetian lace accenting a Queen Anne Style neckline. The cathedral train was bordered with lace. She carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and white carnations. Her attendants wore organza gowns with flounced hemlines and sweetheart bodices. They carried lavender roses and white carnations.

Following the service, a reception, dinner and dance was held at the Marshfield American Legion Hall.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Radue will make their home in Marshfield. She is a 1978 graduate of Neillsville High Scholl and in 1980 from Western Wisconsin Tech-La Crosse. She is employed as a waitress at Marshfield’s Plaza Pantry Restaurant. Her husband, a 1979 graduate of Marshfield Senior High, is owner of Plaza Pantry Restaurant. The couple announced they would be taking a May wedding trip to the Black Hills.

Oestreich, Victoria J. (5 April 1984)

Victoria J. Oestreich and Harry S. Johnson, both of rural Greenwood, wee united in marriage on Thursday afternoon, April 5, by Circuit Judge Michael Brennan. The vows were shared at the Clark County Courthouse in Neillsville.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Oestreich of Marshfield and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson of Wyeville.

Serving as maid of honor was Rosemary Waterman, a friend from Neillsville. Bestman was a friend Gary Krause of Greenwood.

The bride chose a shawled gown in navy blue. She carried a bouquet of white roses, blue carnations and baby’s breath. Her attendant wore a long gown in light blue and green and carried blue carnations and baby’s beath.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Johnson will make their home at rural Greenwood. She attended Neillsville High School. He is employed in the service department of Urban Sales and Service, Neillsville.

Pyka, Janet Louise (7 April 1984)

The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church ceremonies on Saturday afternoon, April 7, for Janet Louis Pyka and James Robert Zschernitz. Neillsville parents of the couple are Carl Pyka of Rt. 2, Susan Pyka, 116 Grand Ave., and Millie Kaczor, 201 W. 19th St., Neillsville.

Matron of honor was Bonnie Mayenschein. A friend of the bride from Greenwood. Joining her were Karyn Fett, a friend from Chicago, while junior attendant was Michelle Pyka, the bride’s sister of Neillsville.

Serving as bestman was Ronnie Morneau, a friend from Marshfield. Groomsman was Gene Zschernitz, the groom’s brother of Des Plaines, Illinois. Junior attendant was Robbie Zschernitz, the groom’s nephew of Des Plaines. Ushering were Joseph Pyka of Neillsville and Dennis Zschernitz of Madison, brothers of the couple.

The bride chose a satin gown featuring Alencon lace, Queen Anne-style neckline, leg-o-mutton sleeves, full A-line skirt and chapel-length train. Her pearl-edged veil was adorned with silk flowers and pearl wreaths. She carried a bouquet of roses, Figi mums, carnations and baby’s breath. He attendants wore polyester gowns in auberge color and featuring fitted empire-style waists, pleated skirts, spaghetti-style straps and detachable capes. They carried flowers similar to the bride’s.

The groom and his attendants wore traditional style white tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Zschernitz will make their home in Neillsville. She is a 1979 graduate of Neillsville High School. He is a 1970 graduate of the same school and is employed by the Clark Country Highway Department.

Sladich, Anne M. (17 March 1984)

The Athletic Club in Willard served as the Saturday afternoon, March 17, site for the wedding of Anne M. Sladich and James Robert Bogdonovich. Attorney Norman Saracoff of Neillsville officiated. Parents of the couple are Anne Sladich, Rt. 2 Greenwood, and the late Ignatius Sladich, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bogdonovich, Rt. 1 Willard.

Serving as maid of honor was Pam Scheuneman, a friend from Arpin. She was joined by Linda Schroeder, a friend from Wilson, Kathy Sedlacek, the groom’s sister of Cadott, and Lori Hendrickson, a friend from Willard.

Bestman was Jerry Vessel, a friend from Greenwood. He was joined by the groom’s brother Rodney Bogdonovich, friend Dick Hribar and another brother of the groom Randy Bogdonovich. All of the latter were from Willard.

Ushering was Mike Sladich, the bride’s brother of Greenwood, Jeremiah Sladich-Bogdonovich, the couple’s son, was the ringbearer.

The bride chose a long gown featuring an empire-style neckline and laced ruffles on the shoulders and bottom, adorned with a bustle. She carried a bouquet of roses, lilacs, carnations and greens. Her attendants wore lilac gowns with high necks, bustles and ruffles; they caried lilacs and carnations. The groom and his attendants wore black tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception and dance was held at the Athletic Club. Prenuptial events included a shower in Neillsville hosted by Mary Sladich.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Bogdonovich will make their home at rural Willard. She is a 1978 graduate of Greenwood High School and is employed as a bookkeeper for the Neillsville Bank. Her husband, a 1978 graduate of the same school, attending a welding program at Dist. I Tech-Eau Claire and is presently self-employed. The couple announced that they would take a summer wedding trip to Minnesota.
