Haire, Nell (16 Feb 1895 – 16 Apr 1976)

Funeral services for Mrs. W. R. (Nell) Haire were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 19, 1976 from the United Church of Christ, Owen. Rev. Donald Stats officiated, with interment being made at Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Haire, Ron Alberts, Gene Altenburg, Billy JoeRogers, Darrel Albert and Herbert Haire Jr.

Mrs. Haire, a resident of this community the past 60 years, passed away at 8:45 Friday morning, April 16, 1976 at the Clark County Health Care Center.

The former Nell T. Thorson was born February 16, 1895 in Winnebago County, and moved to Withee in 1905. She worked as a telephone operator, and later as a cashier for the H. H. Christopherson Telephone Company., later known as the General Telephone Company, for 37 years.

She was a resident of Owen most of her life, and was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Her marriage to W. R. Haire took place July 16, 1919, at Chippewa Falls. He survives.

Other survivors include seven sisters, Mrs. Hebert (Lillian) Haire, Mrs. Ella Snyder and Miss Bess Thorson, all of Owen, Miss Sadie Thorson, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Edgar (Julia) Albert and Mrs. Lucius (Edna) Bowen, both of Withee, and Mrs. Shurleigh (Mildred) Grimes, also of Owen.

A daughter preceded her in death.
