Engel, Donna (12 Jun 1976)

At the altar of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, Wisconsin, was the setting where Miss Donna Engel and Mr. Patrick R. Witek repeated their promises to each other. Donna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Engel of Withee, and Patrick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Witek, Lublin.

The wedding took place at 2:00 in the afternoon, on June 12, 1976, when Rev. Douglas Groenewold officiated at the ceremony. Approximately 250 guests attended the double ring ceremony, Mr. Larry Luzinski, and Mr. John Lorenz, both of Lublin, seated the guests as they arrived. The bride’s empire styled gown was made of Alencon lace. A high stand up collar and full sleeves with long cuffs enlightened the dress. A full length train and veil edged with Chantilly lace flowed down the aisle behind her as she approached the altar to meet the groom, who was dressed in a full white Newport styled tuxedo. The bride carried a bouquet of silk roses and carnations with long white silk ribbons extending down the front of her dress, with small silk rose buds attached to the ends of the ribbons.

Six bridesmaids attended the bride. Two of the bridesmaids wore blue dresses, two wore yellow, and two wore green, all being of the same floral print, and empire styling. The V-neckline and short puff sleeves were accented with white lace. They each wore a large silk rose in their hair, and carried white lace umbrella over their shoulders. Each umbrella was accented with clusters of silk flowers and ribbons of the same color as their dress.

Bridal attendants were: Miss Roberta Engel, Mrs. Diane Kroeplin, Mrs. Melody Susa, Mrs. Pat Armstrong, Mrs. Debbie Engel and Miss Donna Witek.

The groomsmen wore full color Newport styled tuxedos. A white carnation, tipped in the color of the tuxedo, accented their attire. Groomsmen were: Mr. William Wisniewski, Mr. Martin Kroeplin, Mr. David Zakrzewicz, Mr. Ben Wisniewski, Mr. Garry Engel and M. Tony Skryrzcpzak.

The miniature groom wore a Newport styled tuxedo identical to the groom’s.

The miniature bride wore an all lac dress styled similar to the bride, with short puffed sleeves and U-neckline. She wor ea lace bonnet to match her dress and carried a multi-color bouquet of silk flowers with white silk ribbons. The miniature couple were: Miss Sandy Have, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Haver, Withee, and Mr. Allen Wisniewski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wisniewski, Withee.

The ceremony was followed by a lovely dinner at the Legion Hall in Thorp. The dining room and the dance hall were beautifully decorated with garlands of flowers and bells. Two candelabras with multi-colored flowers and yellow candles accented the center of the bridal table. Each of the other tables had small bouquets of flowers in bud vases that completed the decorations.

Many friends and relatives of the bride and groom attended the dance in the evening.

The new Mrs. Witek, a graduate of Owen-Withee High school, is employed as a lead clerk at ITT Live Insurance Corporation in Thorp, Wisconsin.

Mr. Witek, a graduate of Posser High School in Chicago, Illinois, is employed as a semi-truck driver Weather Shield Incorporated at Medford, Wisconsin. The couple will reside at 502 West School Street, Thorp, Wisconsin.
