Knoop, Shelby Jean (17 September 1977)

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church was the setting for the September 17, wedding of Shelby Jean Knoop of Neillsville and James Alan Garbisch of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Knoop, Rt. 2 Neillsville and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Garbisch, Rt. 1 Granton.

For her wedding day, the bride chose an empire style gown of silk organza and beaded Venise lace fashioned with a low neckline, long, full sleeves and skirt sweeping into a chapel train. Matching lace edged her fingertip-veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink silk roses, baby’s breath, while daisies and pink carnations accented with lace as she was presented in marriage by her parents.

Bridal attendants included Miss Sue Ann Smith, Marshfield, as maid of honor and Miss Beckie Diedrich of Ft. Jackson, S.C., Miss Carol Knoop of Neillsville and M0iss Debbie Ziegler of Willard as bridesmaids. They wore princess style gowns of light blue flocked crepe with sheer dotted swiss capes edged in lace. Blue picture hats with ribbons and colonial bouquets of pink and white daisies, carnations and baby’s breath accented with lace completed their ensembles.

Serving as best man was Leonard Reich, Granton. Groomsmen were Ron Brost of Unity and Bob Garbish and Dave Kuehn of Granton. Guests were seated by Janet and David Knoop.

The organist was Paul Tess, and the soloist was Mrs. Paul Tess.

A reception at the Wildcat Inn was followed by a dance at the home of the bride’s parents.

A 1976 graduate of Neillsville High School and a 1977 graduate of Mid-State Technical institute, Marshfield, as a medical assistant, the new Mrs. Garbisch will be employed at the Neillsville Clinic. Her husband, a 1977 graduate of Granton High School, is serving in the U.S. Army and will be stationed in Korea. The bride will remain in Neillsville.
