West, Doris I. (2 February 1923 – 8 December 1977)

Funeral services for Doris I. Winn West, Springfield, Va., who died Thursday, December 8, at Andrews AFB Hospital in Maryland after a long illness, were held in Hamilton Square, N.J., on Monday, December 12. The Rev. John Hawes of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square officiated. Burial was made Hamilton Square Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mrs. West was born in Granton, February 2, 1923, to Dora and Floyd Winn. She attended schools in Granton and was a graduate of UW-Eau Claire. She was married to Lt. Col. Joseph H. West, USAF Ret., a former resident of Hamilton Square. She was an elementary school teacher and taught in Wisconsin, Michigan and with the Department of Defense school system in Germany.

She served as a first lieutenant on active duty with the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was active in parent-teacher associations and Air Force officer’s wives club activities.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Mosby of Murray, Ky., and Mrs. Patricia Stelljes of Montgomery, N.Y.; a brother, John Winn, Glencoe, Mn.; two nieces, Beth Mosby and Susan Winn; two nephews, Rand Mosby and Thomas Winn; three aunts, Gladys I. Wage of Neillsville, Mrs. Harry Hales, and Mrs. Byrl Winn both of Wisconsin Rapids.
