Zettler, Josephine (1880 – 16 Mar 1972)

Mrs. Frank Zettler of Athens died March 16, 1972 at the Colonial House at the age of 91. The funeral was held Saturday at St. Anthony’s Church in Athens, with the Rev. Ralph Geissler officiating.

She was born Josephine Kautzer in 1880 in St. Nazianz. In 1900 she married Frank Zettler Sr. The couple lived in the Athens area since 1904, farming in the Town of Johnson for many years.

Mrs. Zettler spent the past few years at Abbotsford and Colby Nursing Homes.

She is survived by four sons, Martin, Town of Johnson, Arnold, Port Arena, California, Frank Jr., Athens, and Melvin of Loyal; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Mauerer, San Jose, California, Mrs. Peter Boris Sr., Town of Rietbrock, and Mrs. Norbert Calmes of Abbotsford; 55 grandchildren; 131 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Martha Lutzke of Manitowoc.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964.

Pallbearers were grandsons of Mrs. Zettler, David and Gene Zettler, Roger and Sherman Calmes, Michael Boris and Albert Radtke.
