Pieper, Sophia (30 November 1902 – 27 January 1979)

Mrs. Sophie Pieper, 76, Black Riverview Apartments, died Tuesday, January 27, in St. joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. The former Sophie Susa was born November 30, 1902, in Greenwood and received her education at the West Eaton School. She was married to Reinhart Pieper, October 11, 1925, in Illinois and they farmed in the Town of Beaver until 1950 when they moved to Milwaukee.

Mrs. Pieper was employed by Johnson Cookie Company in Milwaukee. For the past 15 years she lived in Greenwood and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Genevieve Bentzler, Milwaukee; and three grandsons. Her husband preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Friday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Robert Houston, pastor, officiated and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers, all nephews, were Robert, Cletus, Howard, James Susa, Albert Susa, Jr. and Hubert Bodwin. The Rinka Funeral Home of Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.

Among those from away who attended the funeral were Genevieve Bentzler and three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Bodwin and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Susa, Jr., all of Milwaukee, Irene Logeman, Elm Grove, and Kathleen and William Susa, Stevens Point.
