Dimmitt, Helen M. (25 April 1916 – 11 March 1978)

Mrs. George (Helen M.) Dimmitt, 61, a Town of Mentor farm wife, passed away Saturday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Dimmitt, who was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society for St. Joseph’s, was born to Anton and Rosine (Baumgartner) Mayer on April 25, 1916, and she was educated in the Town of Mentor. She worked at La Crosse and Milwaukee prior to her marriage to George on October 19, 1940, at St. Joseph’s. After the wedding, the couple farmed in the Town of Mentor.

Mrs. Dimmitt is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Rosemary) Schmidt of New Berlin, Mrs. James (Rita) Ulesich of Menomonie and Mrs. James (Nancy) Flynn of Chippewa Falls, two sons, William A. of Osseo and Richard A. of Humbird, two sisters, Mrs. Orin (Tracy) Bemis and Mrs. Albert (Ann) Zimmerman, both of Humbird, two brothers, Ted Mayer of Fairchild and Joe Mayer of Humbird, and nine grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Herman and Tony.

The funeral for Mrs. Dimmitt was held Tuesday from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Fairview with burial to be made in the Church’s cemetery. The rites were officiated by the Rev. David Ziegelmaier, parish priest. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville was in charge of arrangements.
