Crockett, Rita (Joined MFU - 1978)

The former assistant director of education for the Wisconsin Farmers Union has joined the state staff of the Montana Farmers Union, according to MFU President Jim Stephens.

Rita Crockett, who served on the Wisconsin staff for seven years and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Crockett, Rt. 1 Neillsville will succeed Debbie Urick in her job as education director.

Crockett comes from a small dairy farm and is number eight of ten children. She graduated from Neillsville High School and in the spring of 1972 received her B.A. in secondary education with a minor in library science. She has completed the Farmers Union youth program and received her torchbearer award in 1969.

Noting that her most recent work had been done with new Farmers Union members who joined through the Farmers Union Milk Marketing Cooperative, Stephens said that Crockett’s contributions to MFU will be two-fold.

“Rita brings to our organization a wealth of experience in Farmers Union Education programs and also appears to have a valuable working knowledge of cooperatives,” Stephens said. He also added that Crockett’s dairy farm background adds a unique dimension to the organization.

“In our continuing efforts to serve all aspects of Montana agriculture, we think Rita will contribute significantly to our organization’s overall perspective and effectiveness towards livestock and dairying,” Stephens said.
