Michael Rogers, a former principal of Zion Lutheran School, Colby, was ordained into the Holy Ministry in a service held at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, June 4, 1972. The Rev. Rogers will be installed as pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Ord, Nebraska.

The Rev. Carl E. Aufdemberge, Kaukauna, Wis., delivered the sermon and the Rev. H. H. Heinimann; Barrington, Ill. read the Bible readings. The Rev. Robert E. Hintz, Embarrass, Wis., also a former teacher and principal at Sion, presented Rogers for ordination. The Rev. David T. Pankow, the pastor of Zion, served as liturgist and red the Rite of Ordination.

Robert Schaeffer, a classmate of the Rev. Rogers, served as organist. Zion School Choir under the direction of William Wittlief, sang an anthem: “Go Tell.” The hymns were accompanied by trumpeters: Jean Balts, Tony Bartishfski, Karen Dommer and Betty Schmelzer. Greg Gaulke served as acolyte.

William Plautz served as crucifer and Robert Steinwagner served as banner bearers. William and Robert are students at Concordia High School, Milwaukee, and both are former students of the Rev. Rogers at Zion. The crucifix used in the procession was prvided by St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby.

Over 325 relatives, friends and members of Zion remained for a reception-dinner after the ordination service.
