Sterzinger, Mary Ann (24 Jun 1972)

Red and white carnations graced the altar of St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Colby for the wedding of Miss Mary Ann Sterzinger, Colby, to Donald C. Uerling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Uerling, also of Colby.

The Rev. Frank Rushman officiated at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony held June 24, 1972.

The bride wore a long empire organza gown with Gibson girl sleeves and mandarin neckline trimmed with Chantilly lace. Chantilly lace appliques were on the skirt. The flounce veil was of long mantilla tulle and Chantilly lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations and red roses.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Al (Rose Ann Weix) Symicek, Whitehall, and bridesmaids were Gail Decker, Unity, Mrs. Tony Sterzinger, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Mae Uerling, Wausau, sister of the groom, Mrs. Peter Uerling, Abbotsford, sister-in-law of the groom.

The bridal attendants wore long aqua colored gowns of chiffon with long sleeves and empire styled waists and lace trimmed bodices. They carried cascade bouquets of aqua and white gardenias. The flower girl, Miss Anita Sterzinger, niece of the bride, Locker, N.Y., wore a long white gown of satin, which featured an empire waist. She carried a miniature bouquet identical to the bride’s.

The groom’s brother, Peter Uerling, served as best man. Groomsmen were Sylvester, Tony and Herbert Sterzinger, Colby, brothers of the bride, and Heber Uerling, Colby, brother of the groom.

Ushers were James Sterzinger, Locker, N.Y., brother of the bride, and Ervin Uerling, Stratford, brother of the groom. Mark Sterzinger, Colby, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

A reception was held at the Colby City Hall, and a dinner served at St. Mary’s gym. A wedding dance was held at Trianon Ballroom.
