Philip C. Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milford C. Gilbert, 204 E. Spruce Street, Abbotsford, has been promoted to Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

Sergeant Gilbert, a data systems specialist at Altus AFB, Oklahoma, serves with a unit of the Military Airlift Command which provides global airlift for U.S. military forces.

A 1964 graduate of Colby High School, he received his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1969 from the UW-Stevens Point.

The sergeant’s wife, Sharon, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wade, Route 1, Endeavor.
