Peterson, Wayne Lavern (12 June 1954 – 23 August 2021)

Wayne Lavern Peterson, age 67, of the township of Hoard, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at his home.

Wayne was born on June 12, 1954, the son of Lavern and Elaine (Straavaldson) in Madison, and stepson of John Schollmeyer. On April 24, 1976, Wayne was united in marriage to Mary Margraf in Cottage Grove.

Wayne was a hardworking man. He raised beef cattle, drove semi-trucks and enjoyed his many tractors. He enjoyed his animals and working outside on their farm. He loved teaching and helping people. He also raised tobacco in Deerfield with his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife: Mary; two children: Jenny (Eric) Totzke of Stratford; and Chad (Kerri) of Melrose; five grandchildren: Kailey, Hannah, Liberty, Brinley, and Carter; mother and stepfather: Elaine (John) Schollmeyer; mother-in-law: Kathleen Margraf; siblings: Steve (Debbie), Sue (Glen) Matson, Sandy (Mike) Sayler, Jim, and Lisa (Mike) Meister along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dad; Lavern one sister, Sherri Peterson; father-in-law: John Margraf and brother-in-law: Joe Margraf.

A Celebratory Gathering will be held at 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.
