Granton FFA (Rates Great - 1978)

Gary Eibergen, a member of the Granton FFA, exhibited the reserve grand champion hog at the state junior livestock show held in Eau Claire.

Eibergen showed a purebred duroc barrow in competition with 79 other hogs. He sold his barrow at auction for $1.10 per pound to Hewitt packing of Lindsey, Van Gordon’s Elevator of Neillsville and the Granton FFA Alumni, who purchased the animal as a joint venture.

Nanette Daleiden placed second in the rate of gain contest and received a trophy. Eric Eibergen, a member of the Romadka 4-H club, Granton, placed first in beginner’s showmanship, and Mike Bletsoe, Granton FFA, placed first in junior showmanship. Granton placed fourth in the state judging contest held at the show.

Champions in their breed classes were shown by Rick Osborn and Mike Bletsoe, both members of the Granton FFA. Fifteen exhibitors from Granton attended the show.
