Wendt, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick (45th – 1 October 1978)

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wendt, Neillsville, recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with an afternoon and evening open house at their home, 612 Center St. The Saturday, September 30, event was hosted by the honored couple’s children.

Frederick Wendt and June Fradette were married on October 1, 1933, at the Congregational parsonage in Neillsville by the late Rev. G.W. Longenecker. With the exception of one year, the couple has spent their entire married life around and in Neillsville.

All four of the couple’s children and their husband and wives were present for the open house, including Clair of Marshfield, Larry of Stoughton, Mrs. Stanley (Teriann) Kurasz of Morrison, Ill., and Mrs. Fred (Kathleen) Dux of Neillsville. Also in attendance were twelve grandchildren.

Two members of the Wendt’s wedding party, Eva, Mrs. Wendt’s sister, and Ray Fradette, Mrs. Wendt’s brother, took part in the observance. A cousin of Mrs. Wendt, Dorothy Roberts, was in charge of the guest book. The special anniversary cake was baked and decorated by Mary Jane Lewis Petit, Chili, a close friend of the family.

June has worked at the Neillsville Public School cafeteria for the past 19 years and was also employed part time as a nurse’s aide at the Neillsville Memorial Home. Frederick has been disabled and blind for many years.

Among the 125 persons attending the event were Mr./Mrs. Clair Wendt and family and Carol Johnson, all of Marshfield; Mr./Mrs. Larry Wendt and family and John and Lisa Trogner, Stoughton; Mr./Mrs. Stanley Kurasz and family, Morrison, Ill.; Mrs. Dorothy Roberts, Toulon, Ill.; Mr./Mrs. Robert Johnson, Minneapolis, Mn.; Mr./Mrs. Albin Person, Osseo; Mr./Mrs. Ray Hurlburt, Black River Falls; Mr./Mrs. Ray Fradette, Eau Claire; Mr./Mrs. Neland Will, Colby; Mr./Mrs. Ronald Hribar and family and Betty Lenz, Greenwood; Mr./Mrs. Gene Zawadzki, Owen.
