Sladich, Jeanne Marie (28 October 1978)

Rural Granton will be the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Strey, who were married Saturday afternoon, October 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. The bride Jeanne Marie Sladich, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ignatz Sladich, Rt. 2 Greenwood. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Strey, Rt. 1 Granton.

The bride was given away by her father in the 1:30 p.m. ceremony officiated by Father Chester Osowski, with musical accompaniment by soloist Patty Martens and organist Rita Stewart.

The bride wore a chapel train gown of chiffon over taffeta, enhanced with re-embroidered Alencon lace n the empire bodice, a portrait neckline and Bishop style sleeves. A Juliet cap of Alencon lace secured her pearl-edged lace-appliqued veil, which was of waltz length. She caried a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath.

Selected as matron of honor was Ruth Erickson, Spencer. She was joined in the bride’s party by Becky Thering, Reedsburg, Janet Strong, Eau Claire, and Mary Sladich, Neillsville. They wore full-length red dresses of organza over taffeta featuring high necklines, Bishop sleeves, fitted waistlines and white lace bodices. The skirts were A-line with hemline ruffles. They carried bouquets of red carnations and baby’s breath.

Dennis Erickson, Spencer, was bestman. Groomsmen were Dale Smrecek and Jerome Sladich, both of Greenwood, and Gary Anderson, Marshfield. Ushers were Michael Sladich and Daniel Strey.

After the ceremony dinner was held in the church hall, followed by a reception and dance at the Greenwood American Legion Hall.

The groom who was educated in Loyal, is employed by Wisconsin Homes in Marshfield. The bride is a 1977 graduate of UW-Eau Claire and is an input error corrections clerk at the Marshfield Clinic. The couple will travel through the southern states before making their home at Rt. 1 Granton.
