Volland, Bernice E. (10 December 1924 – 30 October 1978)

Funeral services were to be held this Thursday morning, November 2, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville for Bernice E. Volland, 53, Rt. 3 Neillsville. Mrs. Volland passed away after a lingering illness in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Monday. With the Rev. Joseph Henseler officiating, burial was to be made in the parish cemetery. She was a member of St. Mary’s congregation and of the P.C.C.W. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville was in charge.

The deceased was born on December 10, 1924, to Peter and Lorretta (Dueringer) Straub in Fond du Lac. After completing her education there, she worked in West Bend for several years. On May 21, 1949, she married William E. Volland in Campbellsport ceremonies. The couple then farmed in Washington County for a few years before moving to the Town of Weston in Clark County in 1954.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Thomas and William, both at home, and four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Diane) Aumann of Spencer, Mrs. Stanley (Sharon) Ratsch and Mrs. Charles (Judith) Johnson, both of Greenwood, and Mrs. Leroy (Barbara) Johnson of Loyal. Joining the survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Irene) Wietor and Mrs. Clarence (Rose) Schmitt, both of Campbellsport, Mrs. Donald (Marcella) Funk of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Leo (Esther) Nigh of Plymouth and Mrs. Paul (Bernadine) Bodden of Kewaskum; two brothers, Norman Straub of West Bend and Alvin Straub of Campbellsport; and ten grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers and one sister.
