Subke, Ella O. (5 July 1902 – 1 March 1979)

Funeral services were held Monday, March 5, from the Neillsville United Church of Christ for Mrs. Fred (Ella O.) Subke, 76, of 107 Grand Ave., who passed away March 1 in the Neillsville Memorial Home. With the Rev. Gary Clark officiating, burial was to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Subke was born on July 5, 1902, in Mt. Sterling to Casper and Anna (Knutson) Weeks. She moved with her parents to northern Clark County and received her education there. On September 17, 1923, she married Fred Subke in Neillsville ceremonies and the couple then farmed in the town of Levis for many years.

The Subke family operated an old folks’ home in Neillsville for eleven years before retiring in 1965. Mrs. Subke then worked for the Neillsville Memorial Home until illness caused her to retire from that facility.

Surviving her besides her husband are three sons, Fred of Mukwonago and John and Robert, both of Neillsville; one daughter, Mrs. Martin (Dorothy) Kalina, Merrillan; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Schneider of Mt. Pleasant, Mi., and Mrs. Joseph (Borghilde) Matycha of Cadott; four brothers, Harold, Raymond and Casper Weeks, all of Everett, Wash., and Vernon Weeks; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Ollie and Alfred, and one sister Clara.
