John Ehlers Family Reunion (30 June/1 July 1979)

A two-day reunion of the Ehlers family was held recently beginning with a dinner at the Wildcat Inn, on Saturday, June 30 for about 150 people. A gathering was then held Saturday evening and Sunday at the home farm. Food was served to about four hundred people on Sunday.

Those attending from Neillsville included Mr./Mrs. Art Ehlers, Mr./Mrs. Lavere Ehlers & family, Helen Hogue, Lillian Meyer, Audrey Meyer & children, Ronnie Meyer, Leona Ehlers, Mr./Mrs. Lavern Ehlers & family, Jim Ehlers, Mr./Mrs. Dale Meyer & family, and Mr./Mrs. Herbert Filitz.

Out-of-town guests were Mr./Mrs. Emil Ehlers & family, Aberdeen, Md.; Mr./Mrs. Eugene Eslick & family, Mr./Mrs. LeRoy Eddy & family, Woodstock, Ill.; Mr./Mrs. Charles Haines, Mr./Mrs. Jim Hodges & family, of Ishpeming, Mi.; Evelyn Junchen, Green Bay; Mr./Mrs. Hal Haid, Sioux, Ia.; Mr./Mrs. Dave Lanpher, Fl.; Debra Oelke & daughter, Mr./Mrs. Gary Begly & family, Mr./Mrs. Jerry Ehlers, Green Bay; Mr./Mrs. Larry Ehlers, Dorchester; and Mr./Mrs. Edward Schwellenbach & family, Janesville.

Joining them were Mr./Mrs. Raymond Heisz & family, Milton; Mr./Mrs. Larry Butero & family, Milwaukee; Mr./Mrs. Lester Krier, Mr./Mrs. Tom Meyer & family, Beaver Dam; Mr./Mrs. Jack Meyer & family, San Diego, Ca.; Mr./Mrs. Glenn Ehlers & family, Sharon Ehlers, Maxson & daughter, Brookfield; Mrs. Doris Williams & daughter, Mr./Mrs. Eugene Ehlers & family, Columbus; Mr./Mrs. John Ehlers and family, Elm Grove; Mr./Mrs. Irving Ehlers, Buckeye, Az.; Mr./Mrs. Jeffrey Ehlers & son, Scottsdale, Az.

Several other friends and guests visited on Sunday. Many letters and telephone calls also came in from different relatives and friends during the week.

Parents of the families are Mr./Mrs. John Ehlers, who moved to Clark County in 1906, from Winona, Mn. There was log house on the land, and they later built the home that is there now. The couple had thirteen children of which nine survive. They are Arthur Ehlers, Mrs. Helen Hogue, Mrs. Lillian Meyer, all of Neillsville; Mrs. Evelyn Junchen, Green Bay; Mrs. Dorothy Krier, and Mrs. Jeanette Braatz, of Beaver Dam; Glenn Ehlers, Brookfield; Eugene Ehlers, Columbus; and Irving Ehlers, Phoenix, Az. The parents Mr. and Mrs. John Ehlers are both deceased.
