Bealer, Edwin (8 February 1908 – 15 April 1979) With Flag

A rural Chili man was found dead in a roadside ditch late Sunday afternoon. According to Clark County Deputy Coroner Richard Schleifer. Neillsville, Edwin Bealer, 71, died of “natural causes” around 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Bealer, Rt. 1 Chili, never made it home from a winter trip to Florida. It was learned that he traveled by bus from the southern state and upon arrival at the Townline Road, the bus driver let him off. Bealer walked to his sister’s residence, dropped off his luggage there and then proceeded to walk on to his brother’s home. He was found in a ditch between the two locations by a nephew according to Clark County Sheriff Harlan Sundermeyer.

Townline Road is located on the extreme eastern edge of the Town of Fremont. It also serves as the dividing line between Clark and Wood Counties.

Bealer was born February 8, 1908, in the Town of Fremont, where he received his education. He was a veteran of World War II and worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad Company up until the time of his retirement.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Leona Wickersham, Kenosha, and Mrs. Lena Barth, Chili, and three brothers, Ewert of Id., Oscar, Chili, and Raymond, Az. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ivan.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. Pallbearers will be Harold, Glenn and John Wickersham, Garth Barth, Edwin Grobe, and Howard Stone. Rev. William Noble will officiate. Mrs. Norman Faber will be the organist and Mrs. Henry Grottke will be the soloist. Burial will take place in the Yolo Cemetery in the Town of Fremont.
