Nehrlich, James “Jim” A. (12 September 1945 – 30 August 2021) With Flag

James “Jim” A. Nehrlich, age 75, of Unity, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the Marshfield Medical Center.

Jim was born on September 12, 1945, the son of Ira and Elaine (Arpan) Nehrlich in Evanston, IL. He graduated from Dor-Abby High School in 1963. Jim served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1966-69, serving 21 months in Viet Nam. On August 30, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Spence at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Jim worked for 40 years at Land O’ Lakes in Spencer.

Jim was a member of St. Mary’s, the Knights of Columbus, the Colby VFW Post #2227 and the Unity American Legion Post #358. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garden, raising chickens and ducks. Jim liked to travel but loved being home. Most importantly, he loved and cherished his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary of Unity; four children: Julie (Dave) Brush of Hortonville, Kristin (Cliff) Knight of Burlington, NJ, Mark (Jessica) Nehrlich of Loyal and Jamie (Matthew) Aldinger of Medford; 12 grandchildren: Kayla, Taylor, Kennedy, Morgan, Mason, Clifton, Isabel, Colter, Emily, Jameson, Harper and Harlow. He is further survived by his four siblings: Lynne (Jerry) Wojner of Abbotsford, Janice Rutan of Roberts, Tom Nehrlich of Huntington, CA and Toni (Tim) Boushon of Marathon City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Tracy and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hank and Julie Spence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at St. Mary Help of Christians Parish in Colby. Father Joseph Redfern will officiate. Interment to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Colby VFW #2227. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Family and friends unable to attend in person can watch the service live on the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home Facebook page or after the service anytime on Facebook or the website. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.
