Mr. and Mrs. James Hanley announce the engagement of their daughter, Jane, to Terry Boardman of Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boardman of Thorp.

Jane is a 1968 graduate of the Stanley-Boyd High School, and a 1971 graduate of City College of Cosmetology, and is employed at Irene’s Beauty Shop in Thorp.

Terry is a 1965 graduate of the Thorp High School, and a 1969 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and is employed at Arthur Anderson and Company in Milwaukee.

An August 4, 1973 wedding is being planned.

Reverend Joseph Marx performed the twelve noon High Mass and Marriage Ceremony for Miss Jane Marie Hanley and Terrence Michael Boardman on Saturday, August 4, 1973 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley. Mrs. Ed Chaplinski sang “Our Father”, “Ave Marie”, “Wedding Song”, and “Hawaiian Wedding Song,” with Mrs. Jerry Ashbeck as organist.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. James Hanley, Route 2, Thorp and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boardman, Thorp.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white organza gown with crocheted appliques with pink satin ribbons for accent. Her Juliet cap held her floor length veil.

The bride’s sister, Mrs. Robert Nayes, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jeff Mathewson and Miss Beth Baker, friend and the bride, and junior bridesmaid was Miss GiGi Boardman, sister of the groom. They wore pink voile dresses with white sailor collars and white cuffs.

John R. Boardman was his brother’s best man, and groomsmen were Jeff Anderson and Arlin Jenness, friend of the groom. Junior groomsman was Jimmy Nayes, nephew of the bride. Ring bearer was Bill Jo Nayes, nephew of the bride. Ushers were: Bob Nayes, brother-in-law of the bride, and Bob Herman, friend of the groom.

A reception and dinner for 300 gusts was held at the Thorp Legion Hall.

The bride attended Stanley-Boyd High and Stout State, City College of Cosmetology, and was employed as a beautician with Irene’s Beauty Shop. The groom attended Thorp High School and the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, and is an auditor with Arthur Anderson and Company.

After a wedding trip to the West Coast of Oregon and Washington, they will make their home at 9846 W. Beloit Road, Milwaukee.
