Mathews, Mr. and Mrs. Ike (Golden – 2 July 1979)

Friends and relatives gathered Saturday, June 30, to join Mr. and Mrs. Ike Mathews in celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. An open house, followed by a dance, was held at the Riviera Supper Club, and was hosted by their children.

Phyllis Matthews wore a long, gold-colored gown with a golden corsage. Ike chose a tan suit with a gold rose boutonniere. A tiered cake, decorated in gold and white, was made for the occasion by Mrs. Gerrie Schultz.

Phyllis (Wincentsen) Matthews was born in Aniwa. Ike was born in Black River Falls. They were married on July 2, 1929, in Winona, Minnesota. Since then, they have lived in Humbird, Loyal, Franksville and Neillsville. For the past 20 years they have resided at Rt. 2 Neillsville.

The Mathews have three children, Mrs. Leonard (Betty) Rueth of Greenwood, Mrs. Harold (Irene) Richmond of Neillsville and Roger of Racine. They also have eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The original attendants, Dolly Clemens of Couderay and Lee Mathews of Alma Center, were unable to attend the gala.
