Urban, Susan Kay (25 August 1979)

With her parents giving her away, Susan Kay Urban of Neillsville was wed to Gordon R. Beyer, also of Neillsville, in August 25 late afternoon ceremonies at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. The bride is the daughter of Frank and Marilyn Urban, McFarland, while the groom is the son of Walter and Blanche Beyer, Neillsville.

The bride chose a white, nylon chiffon gown with and empire-waist high sheer neckline, butterfly capelet sleeves trimmed with Venician lace and featuring a flowing chiffon skirt with chapel train. Her hat of white Western style and of sheer material was trimmed with matching silk Venician lace and an elbow length veil. She carried a cascading bouquet of white daisies, baby’s breath and English ivy.

Kay Urban, a sister of the bride from McFarland, was maid of honor. She was joined by Judy Thompson, Madison, Sue Bergemann, Neillsville, Karen Beyer, a sister of the groom from Neillsville, and Nancy Hagedorn, another sister of the groom from Sheboygan Falls. The maid of honor was attired in light yellow while the other bridesmaids were dressed in light blue. Their gowns featured full-flounced skirts, taffeta bodices and matching short eyelet capes. They carried baskets of yellow, flue and white daisies with baby’s breath and greenery, as well as baby’s breath in their hair.

John Hagedorn, a brother-in-law of the groom from Sheboygan Falls, was bestman. He was joined by Gary Beyer, a brother of the groom from Marshfield, John Bergemann, Jr., Rick Hoffman and Merlie Lindow, all of Neillsville. Ushering were Paul Erpenbach of Neillsville and John Cox, Oregon.

Serving as ringbearer was Chad Cox, Oregon, while Dessa Bergemann, dressed as a maid of honor, served as the flower girl. Bess Tess sang “The Wedding Prayer” and “The Lord’s Prayer” accompanied by Paul Tess on the organ.

A reception and dance followed at the Wildcat Inn. Prenuptial events included a bridal shower in late July, hosted by Sue Bergemann, Kay Urban and Georgiana Raine.

The bride is a 1975 graduate of McFarland High School and is employed at the Moonlite Inn, Neillsville. The groom, a 1966 graduate of Neillsville High School, is employed by the City of Neillsville. The couple made their home at 301 Court St., Neillsville, after opting to delay a wedding trip.
