Meyer, Arthur W. (16 Oct 1889 – 04 Aug 1973)
Arthur William Meyer, age 83, resident of Stanley, died Saturday evening at the Victory Memorial Nursing Home, Stanley.
He was born October 16, 1889 at Kiel, Wisconsin, son of George and Wilamina Meyer. He grew up in southern Wisconsin and came to Reseburg (Clark Co.) when a young man. In 1918 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Frese at Reseburg.
Mr. Meyer operated the former Pin Grove Cheese Factory in the Town of Edson (Chippewa Co.) from 1932 to 1942, and then moved to Oregon, where he was a carpenter for many years. He came back to Stanley in 1969 and has been a patient at the Nursing Home since.
Survivors include five sons, Emil of Behney, Missouri, Elroy of Clement Falls, Oregon, Arthur Jr. of Stanley, Alfred of Gilman and George of Rugby, North Dakota; five daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Delilah) Timm of Gilman, Mrs. Ellen Derks of Stanley, Mrs. Frank (Arlene) Derks of Stanley, Mrs. Stanley (Evelyn) Wojcik of Gilman, and Mrs. Joe (Edna) Duce of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Hulda) Turenne of Harvard, Illinois, and Mrs. Freda Austin of East Troy, Wisconsin; 41 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, with the Reverend F. H. Sprengler officiating. Burial was made in the Reseburg (Sylvan) Cemetery.
