Schlinsog, Walter (6 February 1896 – 20 October 1979)

A former Town of Grant officer and county board member, Walter Schlinsog, 83, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Hospital, Oct. 20.

Schlinsog was born on February 6, 1896, in the Town of Granton to Herman and Clara (Beer) Schlinsog. After his education, he married Alma Riedel, December 15, 1917, and the couple has remained all of his life in rural Granton.

A member of the Granton Rotary Club and Zion Lutheran, Schlinsog was former chairman for the Town of Grant, served on the church council and was a charter member of the church’s men’s club.

Surviving Schlinsog is one son, Robert, Granton, four daughters, Mrs. Malden (Esther) Novakovic of Milwaukee, Mrs. Norbert (Arlene) Teuteberg, of Hartland, Mrs. Roger (Jeanette) Frank of Wood Lake, Mn., and Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Lau of Potter, plus ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Harry of Loyal and Edward of Granton, and one sister, Mrs. Violet Jones, Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 22, 1958.

Mr. Schlinsog, Rt. 2 Granton, was buried in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery following services from that church on Tuesday afternoon, October 23. The Rev. Horst Augustin officiated with the Gilbertson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
