Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest (Golden - 1980)

Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Thompson, 118 East Ninth St., Neillsville, observed their golden wedding anniversary on January 20 with a 1 p.m. dinner at the Silver Dome Supper Club. A special celebration was held in the afternoon by member of the family.

For their special occasion, Mrs. Thompson wore a blue pantsuit with a mum and carnation corsage with gold ribbon and Mr. Thompson had a gold boutonniere. A gold and white decorated cake, with a 50-year gold anniversary top, graced the head of the table. The Thompsons were married in Waukegan, Illinois, in a civil ceremony in 1930.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Merrillan and attended schools there. Mr. Thompson was born in Tenino, Washington. The family moved to Wisconsin, and he attended schools in West Allis and then graduated from Neillsville High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson are both in good health. He enjoys hunting and fishing. She likes to hook rugs and do embroidery work and has been a Sunday school teacher at the United Methodist for the past 40 years.

Seven children were born to this union: Phillip and Norman, both of Rockford, Ill.; Charles, Northfield; and Mrs. David (Dorothy) Bertz, Mrs. Donald (Carol) Ayers, Mrs. Ronald (Marie) Henning and Glenn, all of Neillsville. They also have 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Present for the celebration were Mr./Mrs. Norman Thompson, Brian, Clyde & June, and Phillip Thompson, Jeff & Jon, all of Rockford, Ill.; Mr./Mrs. Chuck Thompson, Vicki. Mark, Barbara & Peter, Pigeon Falls; Laura Thompson, Abbotsford, Mr./Mrs. Oscar Skar and Mr./Mrs. Albert Skara, of Merrillan; Margaret Ottoson, Fall Creek; Clara Brandstedter, Beloit; Mr./Mrs. Greg Bertz, Marshfield; and Mr./Mrs. David Bertz, Mr./Mrs. Ronald Henning, Tim, Sheryl & Sandy, Mr./Mrs. Dennis Bertz & Brianna, Mr./Mrs. Donald Ayers, Jean & Darrell, Geralda Larsen and Mr./Mrs. Glenn Thompson, all of Neillsville.
