Spencer-SHP Hosts Successful Bed Build (2021)
The Spencer area chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace hosted a bed build Oct. 16 at 504 S. LaSalle St. in Spencer. Volunteers completed 52 and a-half beds. The beds will be delivered to area children who do not have a bed. Sleep in Heavenly Peace serves Clark County, parts of Marathon and Wood counties and a bit of Taylor County. Volunteers for the Oct. 16 build included community members and youth groups from First Baptist Church in Medford and Faith Lutheran Church in Merrill. Mitch Perkl provided the space for the event. Skip and Debbie Klabon provided lunch, and other volunteers offered cookies and other treats. Sponsors of the Oct. 16 build included Lowe’s, The Marshfield Clinic employee volunteer fund, Jessica Thomsen’s Move 4 beds Campaign and Faith Journey Church.
