Almquist, Josephine M. (5 July 1906 – 21 February 1980)

Funeral services were held for Josephine M. Almquist, 73, Neillsville, on Saturday morning, February 23, from Neillsville United Methodist Church. Mrs. Almquist passed away in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on February 21, after a short illness.

The Rev. William Noble officiated at the funeral service with burial made in the city cemetery. The deceased was a member of the United Methodist congregation, and also of the VFW Auxiliary of Neillsville. Music was offered by Linda Krehmeyer, accompanied by Iris Musil. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Jerry, Gary, Dan and Randy Krehmeyer and John and Earl Hansen. The Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born on July 5, 1906, in Kearny, Nebraska, to Joseph and Cora (Kirby) Medearis, and the deceased also received her education in that state. After her marriage to Carl M. Almquist in November 1, 1954, Fremont, Nebraska, ceremonies, the couple lived in Nebraska for a few years prior to farming for a few years in the Town of Seif in Clark County. Then they returned to Nebraska, returning to Neillsville in 1969.

Surviving her, besides her husband, is one son, Merle Krehmeyer, Neillsville; four sisters; two brothers; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, to brothers and one sister.
