Petkovsek, Alice Kay (19 November 1945 – 9 November 2021)

Alice Kay (Scheuerman) Petkovsek, 75, of Marshfield, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at Wells Nature View in Marshfield.

She was born at home November 19, 1945, to Lawrence and Mary (Krze) Scheuerman in rural Greenwood. She attended Benjamin School, a 1st-8th grade one-room schoolhouse before graduating from Greenwood High School in 1963.

After graduation, Alice and her best friend Delores moved to Waukegan, IL, where they shared an apartment and worked together at Citizens National Bank. It was during her time in Waukegan that Alice began her relationship with Delores’s older brother, Edward Petkovsek, and they were married June 17, 1967, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Alice and Ed moved to Marshfield, where they began their married life. Tragically, Ed died December 12, 1984, in a work-related accident, leaving Alice alone with three children.

Prior to Ed’s death, Alice worked part-time as a cashier at Shopko and several years seasonally at Figi’s. In the early 1990s, she began working at the Marshfield Clinic. Throughout her years at the Clinic, she worked various positions in several different departments before retiring in 2016.

Alice enjoyed traveling, walking, listening to country and polka music, reading, baking, getting together with friends for lunch, and spending time with family. She will be remembered by her family for the strength and courage she exhibited raising three children on her own as a young widow, as well as for her generous nature, and for always being there for her family when needed.

Alice is lovingly survived by her children: Scott Petkovsek of Kaukauna; Greg (Vicki) Petkovsek of Waupaca, and Jill (Jason) Wrensch of Marshfield; along with grandchildren, Adam & Aaron Petkovsek, Michelle, Kristin & Samuel Petkovsek and Louis, Joe & Levi Wrensch. Also surviving are one brother, Richard (Sue) Scheuerman of Hendersonville, NC; and one sister, Carol (George) Kitchen of El Paso, TX; sisters-in-Law: Maryann Wayer, Patricia Whitney and Delores (Bill) Lee all of Waukegan, IL; brothers-in-Law: Anton Petkovsek Jr. of California, Jim (Janet) Petkovsek of Greenwood, and Bob (Barb) Petkovsek of Neillsville; along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Robert; and two brothers-in-law, Art Petkovsek and William Petkovsek.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Wells Nature View and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. The Rev. James Weighner will officiate. The St. John’s Choir will sing. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway in Marshfield), and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time for Mass.
