Sossaman, Marie “Blondie” (11 Jan 1931 – 27 Nov 2021)
Marie (Blondie) Anderson Sossaman passed away at The Fountain nursing home in
Yuba City, Calif., on Nov. 27, 2021, after a battle with cancer.
Marie was born on Jan. 11, 1931, in Colby to John (Swede) and Erma Anderson. She
married James Wilde in 1950. In 1962, when her sister, Beverly, passed away,
they took a big step raising Beverly and Claude “Corky” Sossaman’s children for
several years. She always referred to Audrey, Dennis (Butch) and Rick as her
kids. Jim and Blondie later divorced. She then married Herman Sossaman, Corky’s
brother, Aug. 1, 1974, and moved to Brownsville, Calif. Herman preceded her in
death in Oct. 2009.
Blondie was a linotype operator for many years with the Colby Tribune paper and
then later had a restaurant in the old Dairy Bar in Colby.
She will be greatly missed by her “kids”: niece, Audrey (James) Hopfensperger of
Unity; nephews: Dennis (Butch Sossaman) of Unity and Rick (Sue) Sossaman of
Abbotsford. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Julie (Steve) Anderson of
Riverdale, Calif.; sister, Kathy Kauffman; sisters-in- law, Wilma (Ralph)
Sossaman and Dixie (Ken) Ingersol; and many other nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by her many friends in California, including Robin and
Tony Murphy, who have helped her and her kids very much in their many years of
friendship.
Treasure family members that passed before her are brothers: Pete Anderson and
Robert Anderson; sisters: Ida (Donald) Rosenlof and Beverly (Corky) Sossaman.
Burial will follow cremation in Brownsville, Calif., where she will be put to
rest by Herman and a memorial will be at a later date in Brownsville, Calif.
