Greenwood Alumni (24 May 1980)

With 186 attending, alumni from Greenwood High School gathered May 24 in Greenwood. Represented were graduates from classes completing school up to 50 years ago.

The gala began with an invocation by Alice (Dahl) Behrens, a member of the 1930 class. She also later gave the benediction.

An official welcome from the school district was given by Verlyn Sloniker (class of 1950) , a member of the present school board.

Musical entertainment was provided by the high school stage band, under the direction of Dennis Navrestad. Alice Behrens, Agnes Mathison and Florence Stutte, accompanied by Carolyn Schwarze sang “The Way We Were” and “Moonlight and Roses” for additional music on the program.

Dr. Gary Rohde (class of 1956) was chosen for the Outstanding Alumni Award. Rohde is now Secretary of Agriculture for Wisconsin. The award was presented by Victor Wagner, now farm management agent for the UW-Extension office in Clark County and who was Dr. Rohde’s high school agricultural teacher.

Members of the class of 1930 were honored after introduction by Karl Behrens (class of 1931).

Members of the planning committee for the banquet were Louie Landini, Carol Turnquist, Albert Neuenfeldt, Helen Axelson and Roger Standiford.
