Bjornstad, James “Jim” A. (23 November 1938 – 18 December 2021)

James “Jim” A. Bjornstad, age 83, of Owen, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on November 23, 1938, the son of Arnold and Elsie (Karye) Bjornstad in Owen. He graduated from Owen High School in 1956. On February 7, 1959, Jim was united in marriage to Dorothy Anderson at the United Church of Christ in Owen. He was a truck driver for 40 years, including with Allied Van Lines, Foremost and Master Package.

Jim enjoyed driving anything that had a wheel, including his boat, Ford truck, Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, Ski Doo and Arctic Cat snowmobiles, John Deere lawnmower, golf cart and enjoyed sharing his love of driving with his daughters as they grew up. He enjoyed playing golf, cooking, especially his chili, watching sports, especially the Packers and Badgers and spending weekends with friends and family at the cottage in Lake Holcomb. Jim’s most treasured moments were traveling all over the country with his family and when he got to shake the hand of Charlie Pride in Branson, MO. Most importantly, he loved and cherished his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Bjornstad; two daughters: Tamara (Ken) Seubert of Altoona and Lori (Ron) Neumann of Hudson; six grandchildren: Kevin (Sarah Jane) Milliren of Fremont, Eric (Jessica) Milliren of Cyprus, TX, Dan (Leanne) Milliren of Greenville, Mike (Christine) Mroz of Somerset, Mandy (Thomas) Nevins of Albuquerque, NM and Christian (Courtney) Neumann of Weston; nine great-grandchildren: Hannah, Kaleb, Elsa, Ellianna, Ava, Miles, Evie, James and Walker; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the United Church of Christ in Owen. Pastor Asafa Rajaofera will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time-of-service Saturday at the church.
