The 1939 graduating class of Thorp High School held their reunion July 6, 1974 at the Thorp Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose. The evening started at 6:00 with registration and a cocktail hour. Following this a banquet was held at the United Methodist Church, served by the Methodist Ladies Aid Society.

Louie Soboliewski presided as Master of Ceremonies and introduced each member, who in turn gave a short account of the past 35 years. The class prophecy was read, absentee letter from Ann and Harvey Brandsness, Florence Wnek Lazowski, Dawn Ehlert Baines and Marge Bogumill Arpsnault, and a little generalized discuss of past years. The member’s spouses were called upon to add a little about themselves.

The member coming the farthest distance was Helen Bauer Dourte from Albuquerque, New Mexico, the largest family was shared by Chet Zajack and Louie Soboliewski, and the honor of most grandchildren went to Ethel Frinack Alger with 11.

After the banquet all returned to the Moose Lodge, where Teddy Pease took our pictures and we spent the remainder of the evening reminiscing with old classmates.

Graduates attending were: Helen Bauer Dourte, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Bill Boardman, Thorp; Mary Boehm Field, Eau Claire; Marie Czernicki Tranel, Galena, Ill.; Ethel Frinack Alger, Thorp; Lucretia Huls Paff, Thorp; Leon Kobylarczyk, Summit, Ill.; Agnes Konieczny Rohland, Withee; Eleanore Kutnarowski Flunker, Chippewa Falls; Carol Marshall Handrich, Milwaukee; Ted Papierniak, Thorp; Leona Lesniewski Possley, Thorp; Rachael Schmidt Mortensen, Sheboygan, Louis Soboliewski, Round Lake, Ill.; Leon Sopiarz, Chicago; Willard Ustruck, Milwaukee; Doris Weinberger Mattes, Milwaukee; Lucille Wojtkiewicz Wiernasz, Wausau, and Chet Zajack of Thorp.

Others who dropped in during the evening to greet the class were Mr. and Ms. Claybourne Bogumill, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Misfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Boie, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorson, and Mr. and Mrs. Chub Asselin.

The evening was a success and agreement was made to have another in 10 years.
